Blog Post # 13

Alex
I think that Alex is a great resource for teachers. Alex has wonderful lesson plans to choose from and it is great that teachers can share their ideas and work with other teachers. Alex: The Alabama Learning Exchange and their Moto is: Quality for ever facet of learning.

Alex is a place that educators can use to look up lesson plans and so much more such as databases and podcast. There is also a section titled "Course of Study" and "Personal Workspace" and these two help teachers in creating more efficient class time. Any new teacher will appreciate this web site.

Access is the Alabama Connecting Classroom, Educators and Students Statewide.

Our Vision: The State of Alabama will provide equal access to high quality instruction to improve student achievement through distance learning.

Access is to give each student the opportunity to take lessons that are not taught in the school in which they the student are attending. If a student wishes to learn another language access will connect them to a teacher that teaches that language. Access will provide any type of study through technology to be taught by a
teacher to the student. Access is only for high school students, but they should think about letting other grades have this opportunity for learning at an earlier age.

Summary C4T number 2, 3 & 4

Hi, Mr Bedell
I am in EDM310 at the University of South Alabama with Dr. Strange as my instructor. This E-book is a great resource for anyone and I will be using it often. You have done a great job with this book.

Mr. David Hopkins
This was great! The drawings told a story and to watch the artist was spellbinding. What Sir Ken Robinson talked about was enlighten and I do agree with Sir Ken on his philosophy about over mediating our students. I agree with you that this is an exceptionally brilliant piece of animation to accompany an insightful and thought-provoking talk by Sir Ken Robinson. Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece of information.

Jeff Utecht
You really had a wonderful idea with this Radio Broadcast. When you can bring students together and get them to communicate with each other and share their ideas, you have accomplished what we all want our students to do. Students must learn to develop their communication skills and you have done a great job with the radio broadcasting show in achieving this goal.

Reading these post was enlighten and I posted to more teacher but did not save my post. It is good to get an insight into what others think and to know what is available for teachers.

Summarys for K 4 K # 3, 6, 7, 8 and 9

Number Three, The student wrote a poem about butterflies and it was very beautiful.

Number Six, The student wrote a riddle and you had to guess who or what it is, and I said you are a monkey.

Number Seven, The student placed a picture that had been taken and wanted to know what to name the picture. The picture reminded me of communication lines, but my husband called it "A refreshing Sight" the student did very well.

Number Eight, In this post the teachers dressed up in costumes and the children had a fum time at the assembly.

I enjoyed posting to the kids blogs and to see what a child will write and how they understand so much. I do love children and it amazes me how much a child understands by just listening to what other people are saying or doing.

Additional Assignment #5

Why would you not let students take pencils home? Pencils are so common to everyone, but computers on the other hand is not common to everybody. In the area where I live many students do not have access to a computer. I would love to set up a place so students would have access to computers for school and other things.

Watch this video Sir Ken Robinson thoughts about Educational Hierarchy "ask SKR Question 4: Educational Hierarchy"
Respond with one or more paragraphs.

Education Hierarchy

Sir Ken Robinson talked about how the core subjects in school are placed above the arts and how education is designed to prepare one for the job force. I believe that the arts are just as important today as any of the core subjects. In today's world you need the ability to dream and to put those dreams into reality. The arts helps a students to develop the desire to dream. Without the arts this world would be a very dull place.

Additional Assignment # 3

RSAnimate Sir Ken Robinson

What do you think is the most important thing Sir Ken Robinson says in this presentation? "How do we Educate our children to take their place in the economies of the 21st century"

Is there anything you disagree with in this presentation? No, I agree with Sir Robinson about our education system and that it needs to change.

How congruent are Sir Ken's positions with those which you are being taught in the college of education. In other words, where is there agreement? Where is there disagreement? The agreement is with how we should let our students expand their knowledge with the help of technology and I think that the standardized test does not help the students in fact I believe it hurts the students.

What can you do to address the issues Sir Robinson raises? Talk with your community leaders and school officials plus your state representatives and try to get policies changed.

What do you think of the presentation? If you had to do a presentation with others like this, what role on your team would you like most to play? I thought the presentation was wonderful and helped to explain what Sir Robinson was talking about. I thing I would like to be one of the designers.

First Graders in Ms. Cassidy's Class
I think this video was great! To see these children working on computers and DS games was marvelous. I believe that this teacher is doing the right thing in letting her students learn on different tools of technology. What I would say is keep it up.
